How the right people can accelerate your success: Finding mentors and collaborators who align with your vision creates faster results.
Why small, consistent habits lead to exponential growth: Daily non-negotiables like health, learning, and relationships compound over time.

And he's one of the top business coaches. And the whole wide world. Yes, folks. He, uh, he is none other than Dave Meltzer and he is here to share his five daily practices that are going to transform not just your business, but your life. And he's going to share a little bit about the infinite loop of giving, which is a concept that could change how you think about success, both personally and professionally.
So thank you so much, David, for joining me on Rocky mountain marketing today.
Oh, well, thanks for having me. And what a terrific [00:02:00] introduction. What an honor it is to be here to talk about my favorite thing, behaviors that create exponentiality and results that we're looking for, or even better within the context of that abundance, the infinite loop of more than enough of everything for everyone.
So anyone out there that feels stuck or feels as if they're lost or about to quit, just remember, it's not the mistakes that you made. I've made more and bigger ones than most people on earth. But it's the lack of commitment, uh, that will stop us from getting to where we want to be or better. So hopefully today I can inspire you, uh, with the commitment that's necessary and the behaviors to get you to where you want to be or better faster.
Well, and Dave, you've had such a Incredible journey. Um, I mean, you've built massive success, lost it all and then now you've rebuilt in an even more impactful way for those who might not be familiar with your, your journey and, uh. I know a ton about you. [00:03:00] I want you just to kind of take us back to that moment where you realized that success wasn't just about making money.
Because I think as entrepreneurs, sometimes we're always like, okay, well, now, now that I've hit six figures in my business, you know, now I need to reach four or seven and now that I've reached seven, now I need to do eight. Like we're always chasing that next thing because we're very driven as entrepreneurs.
So talk to us a little bit about the moment when you realized that success wasn't just about making money, but. about something bigger.
Well, it was thanked to my mom, my dad, my best friend, and especially my wife. Uh, because when I started on this journey, I had everything I was worth over a hundred million dollars. And, uh, I was lost. I was empty. I was unhappy. And came one night where my wife, uh, had enough of it. She told me she was leaving me.
I came home at 5. 30 in the morning after lying to her about going to the Grammy Awards with Little John the Rapper. And told me she was leaving, that I should [00:04:00] take stock in who I was and what I wanted to become. Uh, because she didn't want to wait around to see the disaster that was ahead of me. And at first I was resistant as I was when my mom, my dad, and my best friend told me I was lost.
And I told them each at that time that I hated them and I wanted nothing to do with them. How could they talk to me that way after everything I had done for them? And I had the same response initially to my wife. But when I woke up in the morning, that moment hit me. As I sat in bed thinking that I do hate my mom, I hate my dad, I hate my best friend, and now I hated my wife, I realized that I hated myself.
And that in order for me to live the life that I was meant to live the one that I had learned about when I was young and had nothing with a single mom and six kids who worked two jobs and packed my dinner in a paper bag in between her two jobs just so we could [00:05:00] eat. I realized that I better take stock in who I was, and that if I couldn't love myself I wasn't ever going to love the people that were most important to me.
And so. Through self exploration, uh, over the last 18 years, which was inclusive of me losing everything. Ironically, people think when I lost everything and went bankrupt in 2008, that was the basement. Uh, I like to tell them my basement had a basement. It was 2006 when I had to come to the reality, uh, that I myself was a liar, a cheater, a manipulator, an overseller, a back end seller, and I hated myself.
And so through gratitude and empathy, forgiveness, and accountability, and effective communication, I've created behaviors through these practices, uh, in order to effectuate exponentiality. So no longer do I pursue commissions, uh, in hoping those commissions would be my mission. Uh, I now pursue a mission and the commission seemed to [00:06:00] follow and it's worked really well.
And, uh, on that mission is to empower others, to empower others, to make a lot of money, to help a lot of people and have a lot of fun.
Well, and I think that, you know, as, like I said before, as entrepreneurs, we're always chasing that next milestone. We're always chasing growth. But you, you talked about in 2006, you know, that's when you realize like, I kind of hated yourself, yourself, but, and it wasn't really what, what mattered anymore. And that's where the, the five daily practices has really transformed.
So much of your business and your life. So can you break down what your five daily practices are and why they are so essential for business owners?
Absolutely. Well, you know, first of all, most people don't realize behaviors are what create progress and good behaviors are behaviors that are aligned with where you want to be, not where other people want you to be, not what's missing, not what you don't have. bad behaviors simply interfere with it. So my good behaviors could be your bad behavior and vice versa depending on [00:07:00] where we want to be or better.
Uh, and so I've developed five daily practices to create consistent, persistent behaviors to get to where I want to be or better. And they work with whatever you want as well. So the first step is that. The realization, most people live in nothingness. They live like tubes, food in, food out. They roll a boulder to the top of the hill all day long.
Just have it rolled down to the bottom. Like in Camus, the stranger in the myth of Sisyphus instead to take the nothingness that most people live in and make it a possibility. We just need to know what we want today. What do we want today? Personally, experientially giving and receiving wise in alignment.
With where we want to be or better by aligning the past, the meaning of the past, we give meaning to everything we see. And so it's a power of co creative nature to give meaning to the past failures, setbacks, mistakes, uh, void, void, [00:08:00] shortages, and obstacles, even successes, defining moments and historical relevances.
And so when we align our past meaning, With the divine direction we want to be in and understand what it is we want today in the context or circumstances of the day, we now can take every nothingness that exists and make it a possibility. The second daily practice is the fastest way to get to where you want to be or better is to know your who.
Who can help us? And who can we help? It's that simple. The fastest way is to find someone that's already in our divine direction already there and ask them for directions or help someone get to where they want to be. And when we do that, the possibilities of knowing our wet, what becomes probability, a mathematical advantage of knowing our who, then the third daily practice is to utilize the God's guarantee.
The only certainty that exists outside of us. God guarantees us one thing tomorrow [00:09:00] that is 24 hours. It is the only certainty of tomorrow. Everything else is circumstantial and uncertain about tomorrow. Everything that is certain is within us. Our skills, our knowledge, and our desires, they're all within us and they are certain.
But outside of us, there's no certainty other than we're guaranteed 24 hours a day, every day of our life, except for the last day, God guarantees he'll cheat you. Seconds, minutes, or hours. He's going to cheat you the last day, but he guarantees every other day. You get these beautiful, wonderful hours with whatever activity that you want to use them for.
And so knowing our, how is separating those activities by circumstantial or non circumstantial behavior. Non circumstantial behavior is non negotiable behavior. So I take the most important things in my life and I make a commitment to doing them every day. A minimum amount of time on my sleep. I have a sleep coach.
I am an expert at sleep. I'm going to be [00:10:00] in the sleep hall of fame someday for being the best sleeper you've ever met. And so that means, Oh man, I love it. I want to sleep coach. yeah, you do. Cause I recover and access information and energy better than anyone. And we're all connected to what an omniscient and all powerful source. So if I'm accessing information and energy better than anyone, regardless of my age or physical, uh, strength, I have more energy and knowledge than anyone.
And so I spent a minimum of seven hours a day on my sleep, non negotiable, a minimum of an hour on my health, a minimum of time with family and friends, a minimum of time studying finance, faith, relativity, and time. And it takes me about approximately 11 and a half hours, including sleep. To have intentional non circumstantial non negotiable behavior.
I don't have to think about it because no matter what happens today, I'm committed to getting that done with the minimum amount of time. Well, that leaves me about 12 and a half hours. To [00:11:00] do whatever I want, what I call circumstantial behavior and with knowing my how, now I can prioritize activities according to not only my sleep, but what I get paid for, what I don't get paid for, what's planned, what's not planned.
And now not only do I have a non circumstantial relativity in my life, but I do have a better way to handle variant behavior and the uncertainty that exists outside of us with circumstances like weather, interest rates, all the in laws coming into town, all the things that we seem to throw us off track.
The fourth daily practice. is know your now you see a hundred percent of the things you do now get done and a hundred percent of the things you do next get done so know your now know your next takes not only the possibility probability and perspective created by knowing your what your who and your how but it gives us a reality because we're actually manifesting and [00:12:00] monetizing and materializing what we want who we can help who can help us and how did you get it done into a A pre, a re, and a prioritized state, meaning we're always pre prioritizing, re prioritizing, and prioritizing activities according to what?
The circumstances of the day, according to the meaning of the past, and our divine direction. And this re prioritization of now allows us to make all the detours of the day. Define. So instead of being punished by the detours, the interest rates of whether the in laws were promoted, protected, loved, and perfected by them, which leads to the final daily practice, apply your why so many people, as we started this interview, feel stuck.
They're searching for their purpose. They're searching for their why. And in the context of the paradigm shift of applying our why to the reality of the what, the who, and the how, we [00:13:00] actually acknowledge that we live in spirit, that we live connected to and through, like I said, the all knowing and all powerful.
And instead of trying to go get it, trying to go find it, trying to go over and around it, through it, allow it, deny it, supply it. Simply acknowledge the fact that we are connected to and through it. So instead of worrying about what we're afraid of, I teach people to identify what you're doing to interfere with it.
And so I am happy. What am I doing to interfere with it? I am grateful. What am I doing to interfere with it? I am forgiving. What am I interviewing doing to interfere with it? I am healthy. What am I doing to interfere with it? Because I know I'm part and parcel of an infinite, abundant, unified system of more than enough of everything for everyone.
So in the context of applying my why, instead of paying millions of dollars for therapy and personal development, I look at an [00:14:00] instant and obvious behavior, which is the way I react to fear. I don't care what I'm afraid of. I know when I'm angry. I don't need a therapist to say I'm angry, I'm worried, I'm separate, inferior, superior, anxious, frustrated, guilty, or resentful.
It's instant and obvious. I know it. But what I can do Instead of interfering with my why I can clear that interference by not resisting the reaction to fear the need to be offended or right or separate instead of resisting it out logic in it out analyzing it instead I just stop I breathe through my nose out through my mouth I remind Myself with my source.
I remember myself with my source. I recollect myself with our my source That's omniscient and all powerful Shortening the distance of resistance not just through wisdom of the past mistakes but of faith [00:15:00] That there's something bigger than me that's omniscient and all powerful loves me more than my mom.
And so then I roll back into what I want, who I can help, who can help me, how to get it done and reprioritize according to the circumstances of the day. Notating I'm already completed the non circumstantial behavior, the non negotiable behavior of my sleep, my health, my finance, my fitness, my faith, all of those other things, uh, that are there.
And now for just a quick break, you've heard me talk about some of my favorite social media tools on the show. And one of them is a tool called Metra cool. So.
Well, Dave, I think that exactly one of the biggest things that you were saying when, when you were, one of the biggest things that, you know, came to mind when you were talking was, uh, intention. And mindset, um, your, the mindset of an entrepreneur, man, 3 a. m. My mind is pretty mean to me. It tells me all the emails I didn't send.
It starts my to do list, you know, all of the things that's wrong. That I'm not doing. And with the, you know, tip number five, the daily practice number five of I already am happy. What am I doing to prevent that? That is such a big shift. I think that so many of us need to really consider like we're, we're kind of putting up the barrier and the blockage in front of us by saying, Oh, well, I haven't done this yet.
I'm not going to send that email at three in the morning. Like, why am [00:17:00] I starting that now? Like, I'm creating these, these roadblocks and my own unhappiness. I'm preventing myself from sleep. And I, I, I couldn't agree more with that fifth practice. And then also You know, I was thinking in 2023, my word of the year was intention and it changed my business.
Um, I had a lot of FOMO, like, Oh, I have to say yes to this event. I have to go on that podcast. I have to go do this. And really, I don't need to do anything. Um, what was my intention behind it? And when I just. Slowed things down and really thought about, okay, these are the pros, these are the cons. Again, everything changed.
If someone that's listening right now says, Man, these, these all are amazing, Dave, but I don't know where to start. What would be, if someone that's listening today wants to start implementing these daily practices right away, where should they begin? Because, again, I think that it's, sometimes it's like, okay, I'm gonna do all these things right now and just hit the ground running.
But, really, we gotta start [00:18:00] somewhere.
It's such a good question because, uh, you know, there's two differentiators between being inspired. One is getting started, getting backstarted, getting up and backstart and backup compared to getting there. And so if you don't get started or you can't get back up, you're not going to get there. And so the two simple things that are the best place to start is one.
Understand your non negotiable behavior. Make a commitment to yourself. I'm gonna spend a minimum amount of time on sleep, on health, on family, on finance, on faith, on studying time, on studying relativity, whatever is most important to you and make the commitment to spend a minimum amount of time and lower the bar.
Make sure that it's something really easy because two minutes a day, committed, A day is worth more than two hours on a Saturday. And if you don't believe me, look at any kid that studies Spanish 15 minutes a day. I've never met a kid that studied Spanish 15 minutes a day that didn't get an A, but I met thousands of kids who [00:19:00] studied Spanish 15 hours on a Saturday before the test and did not get an A.
And so use the A methodology in your life by giving a minimum amount of time on those non negotiable. The second tip to get started. Just get into a rhythm of identifying at least the clues, if not the patterns of how you react to fear, you'll find that you react to fear. For me. I know I have a need to be offended.
That's a major pattern in my life that when I'm afraid. I elevate. It's terrible because if you have a need to be offended, just walk out the door. It'll feed itself. That need will feed itself. You'll be offended by everything. Uh, but when I'm afraid I have a need to be offended and then practice anytime that your mind, body, and soul are on fire, what they teach you when things catch on fire, stop, drop, and roll.
And if you [00:20:00] do these two things, you'll. So get back up, get started, get back started, and you will eventually get there by being inspired.
Um, I know that we're close on our time, Dave. So, um, I was going to ask you about the, the infinite loop of giving, but Do you want me to wrap things up or do we want to do you have time for it?
Okay, cool So before we, before we wrap up today's episode, I do want to make sure that we touch on the infinite loop of giving because it is, it's so powerful and if it wasn't for other.
Business owners that were two, three, four steps ahead of me, giving me the gift of, of their time and just answering quite, I mean, like, I think that the, when you're the infinite loop of giving is everything. And, um, if you could just explain what that means and how it applies to both businesses and personal success, I think that that would be a great way to kind of wrap up today's episode.
I agree because the infinite loop of giving is so interesting, especially because who it impacts the most are the most generous and kind people. You see, most people live with under the guys that the more we give, the more we receive. Yeah. Uh, which is absolutely true, but we are not effectuating that reaction in [00:21:00] the appropriate manner.
What do I mean by that? Most people that are generous and kind, they give more than they receive and they're not doing the math. They're just not doing the math. I promise you that mathematically, if you give more than you receive, eventually you're going to end up at zero. It's math. And if you don't understand the math, email me, David at d melter.
com. I'll show you an equation that proves it. So why is it then? And how is it then that the more we give, the more we receive? Well, there's a few things in the infinite loop of giving one, give more, but instead of receiving more immediately and think it's automatic, you have to elevate your awareness to all that you're given.
Okay. And so number one thing is the more we give, the more we're given, but you need gratitude and forgiveness to see when no evidence is there. Or in my case, evidence was contrary to me [00:22:00] being given something by losing everything because I was given my marriage. I was given my life by evidence that was contrary to where I thought I wanted to be or better by going bankrupt.
But it was a gift. It was a protection, promotion, love, and perfection. So the more you give, the more you're given. Now, the more you're given, we have a really difficult position to be in. The more we need to receive, and most kind and generous people don't like receiving. They feel bad. They feel guilty.
They feel resentful. So they deny all that they're given because they're afraid to receive or they don't want to receive. And then they're denying people the great joy because when people give to us, they feel so great. They don't even take into account, Wow, I have an opportunity to make someone feel really good by receiving.
And then, as a constitution of faith, an illustration of faith, Even those people that give feel bad about asking for more. They truly don't have faith. There's [00:23:00] more than enough of everything for everyone. So the more we give, the more we're given. The more we're given, the more we receive. The more we receive, the more we should ask for.
So we have more than more. Then we give more than more. Be given more than more. Receive more than more. Ask for more than more than more. So instead of at 80 years old, being kind, generous, and broke, You can, at 80 years old, be kind, generous, and rich, and be able to use your generosity at its full capacity, because you can't give what you don't have.
And so, please, use the infinite loop of giving, and have faith there's more than enough of everything for everyone, and live in abundance. Stop interfering with more than enough. Stop interfering with the omniscient, all knowing. Stop interfering with the all powerful, almighty. And start living your life by shortening that distance of resistance and utilizing wisdom and faith to get to where you want to be or better.
